Indonesian researchers have for the first time found evidence of the Ebola virus in orangutans following a study in Borneo. Researcher Chairil Anwar Nidom said that 65 serum samples collected from 353 healthy orangutans in 2005 and 2006 tested positive. “The result should be an early warning for us,” he said. Motambo, the young male chimpanzee who nearly died from tetanus...

Motambo, the young male chimpanzee who nearly died from tetanus and internal injuries after being confiscated from illegal traders earlier this month on the Congo River, is making a rapid recovery at the Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Centre. The wounds on his waist and wrist are healing quickly, and he is now calm, relaxed, and eating well.
