Mona is a female chimpanzee who was captured from the wild in Africa as an infant in the 1960s and spent over 4 decades in research at US research laboratories in Oklahoma and New York, turned 56 years of age this week. Mona spent many years in a 5’ by 7’ cage suspended of the ground, but was finally transferred to the Save the Chimps sanctuary in Florida (USA) in 2011.
