An infant male Sumatran orangutan was confiscated by the Indonesian wildlife authority (BBKSDA) this week after being captured alone in an Acheh peat swamp that was being converted to oil palm cultivation. Nicknamed “Siboy,” the orangutan is approximately 10-12 months old but weighs only 0.7 kilograms, a sad testament to his recent suffering. Siboy has been taken to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP), where he is responding well to treatment. For more, visit http://ift.tt/OVaeQg. http://ift.tt/1gnDN8j
