A juvenile male Bornean orangutan who had been kept illegally as a pet for 4 years in the Bangkuan Village of Central Kalimantan was spotted by a police officer, who alerted Indonesian wildlife authorities (BKSDA) and the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF). Nicknamed “Tumang, the orangutan was seized shortly thereafter, and found to be in good physical health, even though his owners had shaved the hair off his neck.
