An injured adult female Sumatran orangutan who had been abandoned in a local house in Sidikalang, North Sumatra, was rescued this week by the Indonesia wildlife authority (BKSDA) and the Orangutan Information Centre (OIC), and transported to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP) facility for treatment.
