Little Mama, a female chimpanzee who was captured from the wild in Africa as a juvenile in 1938 and spent almost 3 decades as a performer in shows such as Ice Capades, turned 79 years of age this week at the Lion Country Safari (USA) Zoo. Little Mama is believed to be the oldest captive chimpanzee in the world, and her diet of fruits, leafy greens, vegetables and high-calorie biscuits – coupled with iron supplements and omega 3 multivitamins – keeps her energetic.
