Two foreigners were sentenced to 48 months imprisonment by a Malaysian judge for causing the death of a wild orangutan in Borneo earlier this year. Sessions Court Judge M Rajalinggam passed the sentence for charges under the Sabah Wildlife Enactment 1997 against the men – both natives of the Phillipines – who admitted to attacking an orangutan with a machete and tying it up with string, causing injuries that proved fatal.
