A female Sumatran orangutan who had become dangerously isolated in a small patch of forest inside a rubber plantation in the North Sumatra district of Langkat district was rescued this week in a joint operation between the Indonesian wildlife authority (BKSDA) and the Orangutan Information Centre (OIC) Human Orangutan Conflict Response Unit (HOCRU). The orangutan – estimated to be 20 years of age – was released 3 hours later into the Leuser forest in Besitang. For more, visit http://ift.tt/1p8M5X7 http://ift.tt/1DgOgOo
