Katanga, one of the last remaining wild-caught Western Lowland gorillas in the U.S. zoo system, died this week of cancer at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Texas, USA. She was estimated to be 52. Born in Cameroon, Katanga came to the zoo in 1970 and went on to produce 10 offspring, 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. For more, visit http://buff.ly/17GRjmb.
