An infant female Sumatran orangutan who was being kept illegally as a pet in East Aceh was seized this week by Indonesian wildlife authorities (BKSDA) and the Orangutan Information Centre (OIC). Estimated to be 1 year of age, the orangutan was malnourished and weak, and was quickly sent to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP) rehabilitation centre.
