An infant male Bornean orangutan who was being kept illegally as a pet in a chicken coop by villagers in the Kapuas Regency of Central Kalimantan was seized this week in a joint operation between the Indonesia wildlife authorities (BKSDA) and the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF). Nicknamed “Jelapat,” the orangutan was said to have been found on a river bank following fires in the area. Jelapat is estimated to be 18 months old, and was transferred to the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. For more, visit http://ift.tt/29x8MA8 http://ift.tt/297jUlI
