Josephine, a female Western Lowland gorilla who was the matriarch of the Miami (USA) Zoo group but better-known as the grandmother of Harambe, died this week at the age of 50. Josephine was captured from the wild in Africa as an infant in 1967, and was the property of the National Institutes of Health before reaching Miami in 1983.
