Kim, a male Western Lowland gorilla who was one of the last wild-born of his species in captivity in Europe, died on 14 July at the Cologne (Germany) Zoo at the age of 37. Captured in Cameroon, Kim arrived at the zoo in 1977 and became a mainstay, although he suffered from digestive disorders in recent years.
