An infant female Bornean orangutan who had been kept illegally as a pet and secured with a rope around her neck was seized by local police in Central Kalimantan this week and driven 12 hours to the International Animal Rescue (IAR) quarantine centre. Nicknamed “Lisa” after an IAR trustee, the orangutan was in poor physical condition after being fed nothing but fruit and water for the past 10 days.
