A pet chimpanzee who had been purchased from a breeding facility in the United States and raised in a private home, was recently turned over to the Oklahoma City (USA) Zoo when she became too big and strong to handle. Kirsty, who is 14 years of age, was actually returned to the breeding center when she was 6, but the owner worked with The Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) chimpanzee experts in the meantime to place her in a zoo.
