Gedau, the 20-year male Bornean orangutan who was rescued by Sabah wildlife officials after being slashed and stabbed multiple times with a machete following a conflict with a plantation worker, died this week of infections associated with his wounds. Gedau has been in intensive care since his rescue at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Earlier, Indonesian estate worker Syam bin Sul was sentenced to 12 months in jail for attacking an endangered species. http://ift.tt/1MRnL44
