An Indonesian estate worker has been sentenced to 12 months jail by Sandakan Magistrate Court for causing injury to a male orangutan at Beluran on 13 July. The court was told that Syam bin Sul, 38, slashed the orangutan with a machete after allegedly trying to chase him. The orangutan remains in intensive care at the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. http://ift.tt/1fv11Me
