Linda is a female chimpanzee who spent decades in biomedical research, but was transferred to the Save the Chimps sanctuary in Florida, USA, in 2002, and is estimated to be 49 years of age this week. Records of Linda’s life are vague, but she was probably captured from the wild in Africa as an infant in the late 1960s, and went on to spend time in all major chimpanzee medical research facilities in the United States, where she gave birth to 4 offspring but underwent hundreds of tests.
