Two men who were arrested for allegedly killing and eating a Bornean orangutan in November have been freed by an Indonesian court, which ruled that their arrest was illegal. A district court in West Kalimantan said the defendants were detained and handed over to police by officials of the West Kalimantan Nature Conservation Agency based on media reports, without an arrest warrant being issued, without having been caught red-handed and without their families being informed of their detention.
