A young female Bornean orangutan that had been kept as a pet for 2 years by a villager in West Kalimantan who had no ability to care for her was turned over to the Indonesian wildlife authority (BSKDA) recently and taken to the International Animal Rescue (IAR) centre. Nicknamed “Si Manis,” the orangutan had been fed only fried foods and condensed milk before being weaned onto the IAR diet of fruits and vegetables.
