An infant female Sumatran orangutan who was kept illegally as a pet in Aceh Barat Daya was confiscated this week by Indonesian wildlife authorities (BKDSA) and the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP). Nicknamed “Josh,” the orangutan is estimated to be less than a year old and is now undergoing quarantine at the SOCP rehabilitation centre before joining other orphans.
