A well-known female chimpanzee who was part of the Sebitoli Chimpanzee Project study group in Uganda’s Kibale National Park was found dead and roasted by poachers this week in a nearby village. Nicknamed “Penelope,” the chimpanzee was the mother of Butchaman, a 5-year old infant who had twice been injured by snares set in the forest. The penalty for killing an endangered species in Uganda is 5 years in jail. For more, visit http://ift.tt/2bXodEG http://ift.tt/2cib3jL
