A juvenile male Bornean orangutan who was seriously injured before being confined in a small cage was seized by the local Indonesian forestry authority this week and brought to International Animal rescue (IAR) for emergency care. Nicknamed “Nakanas,” the 5-year old orangutan was found to have his lower jaw bone exposed, his gums torn and detached, his incisor and canine teeth missing, wounds to his lips, and small scars and peeling skin on his hands and feet.
