Mahal, a 5-year old male orangutan at the Milwaukee County Zoo, USA, who died suddenly in late December, apparently succumbed to a severe tapeworm infection, according to autopsy reports. Mahal made headlines after being rejected and abused by his birth mother at a Colorado zoo, then being raised by an older orangutan who later died. He moved to the Milwaukee County Zoo in 2008.
