Two illegal ape traffickers in possession of three gorilla skulls and a chimpanzee skull (which had been painted red) were arrested this week in eastern Cameroon following a joint operation between the Last Great Ape Organzation (LAGA) and Cameroon law enforcement officials. This brings to 75 the number of great ape skulls seized in Africa thus far in 2015. When asked why the chimpanzee skull was red, one of the traffickers said Chinese buyers preferred them that color.
