Mama, a female chimpanzee who was captured from the wild in Africa as an infant in 1959 and ultimately came to be the oldest chimpanzee in captivity in Europe, died this week at the Burgers’ Zoo in The Netherlands. She was 59 years of age. Mama lived for many years at the Leipzig Zoo in Germany, but was transferred to Burgers’ Zoo in 1971. For more, visit http://buff.ly/23dXBRX
