Jody is an adult female chimpanzee who spent decades in bio-medical research before being transferred to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest (USA) in 2008. Jody will turn 41 years of age this week, and her birthday is celebrated in conjunction with Mother’s Day because she produced 9 offspring in labs – in addition to at least 2 miscarriages – but never got the chance to rear any of them as they were taken from her at birth.
