UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Erik Solheim of Norway to succeed Achim Steiner as the new executive director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). Solheim was Norway’s Minister of Environment from 2007 to 2012. GRASP’s secretariat is co-hosted by UNEP and the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
