An infant male Bornean orangutan was seized from a village in Sampit in Central Kalimantan this week following a joint operation between Indonesian wildlife authorities (BKSDA) and the Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP). The orangutan, who is estimated to be 1 year of age, is the 56th orangutan seized thus far in 2016, a 9 percent increase over the seizure rate a year ago.
