Manno, the juvenile chimpanzee who spent the past 4 years at a substandard zoo in Kurdistan after being smuggled into Iraq from Syria, reached Kenya this week, where he will be transferred permanently to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary near Mt. Kenya. Manno was released from Kurdistan after activists received the support of the Kurdish prime minister, allowing Animals Lebanon and the Project to End Great Ape Slavery (PEGAS) to arrange the relocation.
