A public petition that gathered 25,000 signatures has forced Thailand’s wildlife authorities to intervene in the care of Canoe, an adult male chimpanzee who has lived in a tiny cage in downtown Bangkok for over 20 years. Wildlife Friends Foundation of Thailand (WFFT) led the campaign, and is currently pushing to determine the origin and legality of Canoe.
