An adult male Sumatran orangutan was rescued from a tiny patch of scrub forest inside an oil palm plantation this week in a joint effort by the Indonesian wildlife authority (BKSDA) and the Orangutan Information Centre (OIC). After a health check – which determined the orangutan’s age as approximately 35 – he was released into an area of rainforest in Ache Taminag.
