An infant female chimpanzee who had been abandoned in a box on a street by illegal traders who fled from police in Cameroon was brought to the Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center in late December. Sad, malnourished, and anemic, the chimpanzee – nicknamed “Kimbang,” which means “white one” in the local dialect, and reflected her pale appearance – is on the mend.
