A juvenile male Sumatran orangutan who was about to be sold by an illegal trader in Medan was seized by the Orangutan Information Centre (OIC) Human Orangutan Conflict Response Unit (HOCRU), in collaboration with Indonesian wildlife authorities (BKSDA). The 3-year old orangutan had been kept in a bamboo cage in the kitchen of a villager in Aceh Tamiang, but is now in quarantine at the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP).
