Little Rock, a female chimpanzee who spent over 2 decades in a biomedical research laboratory breeding programme before her 2002 arrival at the Save the Chimps sanctuary in Florida, USA, turned 46 years of age recently. Little Rock had 10 babies who were removed at birth, and she is deaf and suffers from the effects of a stroke. But she lives in a large family group and loves romaine lettuce.
