An infant female Bornean orangutan who was kept illegally as a pet in Central Kalimantan was seized this week by Indonesian wildlife authorities (BKSDA) and the Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) and taken to the wildlife authority office in Sampit. Estimated to be less than 1 year old, the orangutan is the 16th seized in the past 7 weeks, and is likely to be transferred to the Nyaru Menteng rehabilitation centre.
