An adult male Bornean orangutan being kept illegally as a house pet in West Kalimantan was confiscated this week by International Animal Rescue (IAR), in conjunction with the local wildlife authority, BKSDA. “Kiki,” who is estimated to be around 10 years of age, spent years housed in a small, rusty, steel cage with no door.
