A juvenile female Bornean orangutan who was being abused by plantation workers was rescued this week by the Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) in East Kutai, Kalimantan. Nicknamed “May,” the orangutan had loose and broken teeth – possibly from being hit in the mouth with a hard object – and wounds across her back that required 7 stitches to close.
