Western Lowland gorillas at the Buffalo Zoo, USA, prefer the sounds of nature over classical music or rock music, according to a recent study published in Zoo Biology. The gorillas exhibited fewer stress-related behaviors when a recording of rainforest sounds was played in their enclosure, as opposed to melodies by Frederic Chopin or the English band Muse. NextA makeshift “zoo” in Muyuka, Cameroon, was raided by the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) in collaboration with the Limbe Wildlife Centre in late April, resulting in the confiscation of 36 animals found in deplorable conditions.
