Melvin Gumal, the Malaysian director of the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and Paula Kahumbu, founder of Wildlife Direct, were among those honored with Whitley Awards in a ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society in London on May 8. The charity’s patron HRH The Princess Royal presented the winners with their awards, which are worth up to £35,000 to be spent on their respective projects.
