An adult female Mountain gorilla in the Virunga National Park in DR Congo is believed to have become the first of her species to be diagnosed with melanoma. Gashangi, whose face is already affected by the cancerous cells, will undergo a conservative treatment plan under the care of Gorilla Doctors that will cause the least discomfort to her and the least distraction to her family group.
