An adult male Sumatran orangutan who had been shot to death was discovered by a rescue unit from the Orangutan Information Centre (OIC) this week in a rubber plantation adjacent to an oil palm plantation near Langkat in North Sumatra. After thorough field autopsy with Indonesian wildlife authorities (BKSDA), at least 10 air riffle bullets were discovered in the head of the orangutan near his eyes, nose and forehead.
