An adult male Sumatran orangutan who was isolated in a forest patch and suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest was rescued recently by the Orangutan Information Centre (OIC) and treated for his injuries. Following a brief recovery period, the orangutan – nicknamed “Friday,” as the operation occurred on Good Friday – was released into the Leuser Ecosystem forest.
