New GRASP Partner: The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is the global organization that unites the zoo and aquarium community. Established in 1935, WAZA is a founding member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and is comprised of 23 national and regional zoo associations that represent thousands of individual zoos. WAZA has also implemented over 250 in situ conservation projects in the past decade — including great ape initiatives in Indonesia, Malaysia, Cote d’Ivoire, Congo Nigeria, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo – and recently launched the “Biodiversity is Us” mobile phone application.
