An infant male chimpanzee suffering from dehydration and a lack of food was confiscated from poachers by Rwandan law enforcement officials near Gisenyi this week and transferred to the Gorilla Doctors quarantine facility in Kinigi. The chimpanzee – who originally identified as a “gorilla” by customs officials – is thought to have originated in DR Congo and may be relocated to a sanctuary there once he regains his strength.
