An adult male Sumatran orangutan who was stranded in a patch of oil palms in Kluet Timur, South Aceh, and nearly blind after being shot repeatedly in the head and back by an air rifle was rescued by the Orangutan Information Centre (OIC) and Indonesian wildlife authorities (BKSDA) this week and transferred to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP) rehabilitation facility.
