Boy, a male chimpanzee who endured at least 175 anesthetic procedures and 20 liver biopsies in the 3 decades he spent in biomedical labs, turned an estimated 47 years of age this week at the Save the Chimps sanctuary in Louisiana, USA. Boy’s records are incomplete, but it is thought he was captured from the wild in Africa as an infant in the late 1960s. Boy spent many years living in a 5’ x 5’ x 7’ cage in a lab, and was the lone resident of “The Dungeon” when he was rescued in 2002. For more, visit http://buff.ly/2arD6yn
