GRASP condemns the use of great apes in entertainment, and calls on the Geico insurance company to drop the TV advert that debuted last week which uses a live chimpanzee in a Tarzan spoof. With computer generated images easily available – and conservation efforts undercut by ape “actors,” according to studies – there is no excuse for using live apes in entertainment.
