Towan, a male hybrid Bornean – Sumatran orangutan, and his sister, Chinta, are the oldest twins in captivity in North America, and recently celebrated their 48th birthday at the Woodland Park (USA) Zoo. Towan is also the oldest captive male orangutan in the US and Canada. Both orangutans were raised with gorillas before being integrated with other members of their species at the age of 5.
